Abedi Ayew Pele, a legend in Ghanaian football, has paid tribute to his mentor, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, also known as “World Pele,” who passed away.

At the age of 82, the three-time World Cup champion for Brazil passed away on December 29, 2022, following a battle with colon cancer.

Due to his revolutionary accomplishments in the world of football, Pele is revered throughout the world and widely regarded as the greatest player ever.

Abedi Ayew Pele, who delighted in going by his hero’s name, gave the legend a heartfelt tribute, referring to him as the universal icon who personified football’s beautiful game.

Pele is credited with setting a world record of 1,281 goals in 1,363 appearances over a two-decade career, as well as scoring 77 goals in 92 appearances for Brazil’s Seleço.

Edson Arantes Nascimento is the only professional player to have won the Mundial three times: the first in 1958, the second in 1962, and the third and final time in 1970.

The vivacious team of editors at www.atspo.com can disclose the last words of the legend on his bed at the hospital before his death, in which he stated, “There will be another great player for Brazil.”

Following the news of Edson Arantes Nascimento’s passing, Abedi Ayew Pele of Ghana issued the following statement: “It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my friend and mentor, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the greatest footballer to ever play the game.”

Ayew Pele also mentioned Edson Arantes do Nascimento as a global icon in the statement, saying, “Pele, as he was affectionately known, was a global icon who symbolised the beautiful game of football. He inspired millions of generational kids in his native Brazil and across the globe. Personally, I was immensely inspired by his greatness, and to be likened to him and bear his iconic name throughout my playing time and beyond is an absolute privilege and a priceless honour. Pele is synonymous with football, and football will never forget its king. Rest well, my mentor!”
