Police in Nyanyano in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of Central Region has arrested twelve people including a lady for allegedly engaging in internet fraud known in the local parlance as Sakawa
The police also seized items including 10 laptops, 13 mobile phones, 1 Nigerian passport, 3 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 3 wallets and an amount of GH¢ 25,110.
Briefing journalists, the Nyanyano District Police Commander DSP Daniel Kwao Teye said the patrol had intelligence at about 10 pm on June 11, 2018, that some people were in hiding in a house and using computers to engage in internet fraud popularly known as ‘Sakawa.’
He said the patrol police quickly rushed to place and arrested them.
Meanwhile, the suspects will be screened and those found culpable will be charged and arraigned before court.
