The Electoral Commission (EC) has asked Amadu Sulley, a  dismissed deputy chair of the Commission to return two EC official vehicles currently in his possession.

Mr. Sulley, whose appointment was terminated by President Akufo-Addo together with his then boss, Charlotte Osei and another deputy, Georgina Opoku Amankwah, has refused to return the said cars, a situation that has forced the EC to officially write to him to demand same.

In a letter dated August 14 2018, and signed by Christian Owusu Parry, Director of Administration at the EC, the Commission asked Mr. Sulley to return the cars with immediate effect.

“I have been directed to ask you to return the two official vehicles currently in your possession to the Commission” the statement said

The two cars, a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and an Audi A6 Saloon Car, were given to Amadu Sulley as his official cars during his active days with the Commission.

Here is the full statement.

“Dear Sir,

I hope this finds you in good spirit.

I have been directed to ask you to return the two vehicles currently in your possession tp the Commission.

‘Chop chop’, illegal vote transfers; Why Amadu Sulley was axed

Amadu Sulley, was cited for a number of infractions at the EC including the illegal transfer of votes and embezzlement.

He was also asked to refund some monies which went missing under his watch.

Other allegations that were levelled against him in 2017, include the financial exploitation of the political party primaries.

A report of the committee set up by the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo to probe the EC  chairperson and her deputies, recommended his removal from office, after investigating separate complaints brought against him by none other than her boss, Charlotte Osei.

The Committee asked Amadu Sulley, to refund some GHC 320, 822 which went missing under his watch.

“The Committee held that at least an amount of GHS320,822 remained unaccounted for the consumables used for the primaries of the political parties in 2015, and that up to date, the remaining GHS360,000 has still not been paid into the EC’s account created in 2015 for that purpose, which they allege is still with the Chief Accountant for ‘safe keeping’.”
