The Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei-Kyei Mensah Bonsu has acknowledged the concerns of Ghanaians on the rising cost of living are very valid and has pleaded with the public to be patient as the government is working hard to meet their expectations.

The Institute for Energy Security’s (IES) projected fuel price of Gh5 per litre came to pass this week, with fears that prices will be rising more than it has so far.

But speaking on Kumasi-based Angel FM with Kwame Tanko monitored by MyNews, the Majority leader in Parliament, while affirming that indeed, times are really hard in Ghana and Ghanaians have every legitimate right to cough out their frustrations, Ghanaians should rest assured that the government will put measures in place to make things better both in the short and long run.

He remarked that the citizens should be expectant as something positive will come out of today’s cabinet meeting. He noted that, one of the things they will be discussing is the ‘hardship concerns’ Ghanaians have been raising lately which he personally shares in their sentiments.

He again reiterated that, the consistent fuel price increase has come about as a results of the cedi depreciation but that not withstanding, the government will put measures in place to mitigate the unendurable cost so Ghanaians shouldn’t give up yet.

“Kwame, we will come up with measures to loosen up the burden on Ghanaians especially on the fuel issues in today’s Cabinet meeting”.

Times are hard, but we will make work to make things right. He added.

Information available to us suggests that there will be a crucial emergency Cabinet meeting at the corridors of government today at 11 am to look at what could be done to mitigate the current seemingly hardship that the people of Ghana are going through.
