Ghanaian female vocal goddess, Jane Awindor better known by her stage name Efya has fumed at rapists by insisting that the reason why there is a persistent upsurge of rape cases on women and children stems from the fact that those who are convicted of rape are not given harsher punishments to deter others.

The number of rape cases continue to rise on a daily basis with several news bulletin highlighting how some rapists easily prey on innocent children and devour women through sexual assault to satisfy their absurd desire.

Efya fumed “Please I’m someone who is not happy with the rape issues. All rapists should be inflicted with the same kind of pain that they caused the people that they raped. I feel like the justice system is not tight enough for them to be punished the way they should be punished.

“Because some rapists go to jail and come back out to rape again. I feel like there should be more drastic things done to people who rape women apart from just putting them in jail or fining them or whatever. Because when you defile a girl or rape a woman, it’s not just you putting her in a place that she doesn’t feel comfortable but you literally take away a part of her life.

“I think that rape is something nobody should go through. Some women go through it everyday especially young women, grown women and very very young girls and I think it is very disgusting”.

Speaking in an exclusive virtual interview with Cape Coast’s finest radio personality, Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central monitored by MyNewsGh, Efya advised that we must all contribute our quota to ensure that we free society of the dangers of rapists and those who defile children.

“So all of us should come together to protect our women and going forward we should find more drastic punishment to be inflicted unto people who rape women and especially children”, she concluded.
