Netflix has taken down the movie Slay from its platform following a report
The movie used a song by Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay but reportedly did not seek her permission.
Slay features Ghanaian comedians Bismark The Joke and Kalybos
International movie streaming website Netflix, has reportedly removed a South-African production titled Slay from its platform after a complaint was made.
According to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Zionfelix.net, Netflix took down the movie after award-winning Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay, raised copyright infringement claims.
The Shay On You singer earlier put up a video with the claim that she had just seen snippets of the Slay movie and realized that the makers of the music used her song “All For You” in it.
Wendy Shay said she was not aware that the moviemakers were using the song neither was she informed about the decision.
She then went on to admonish the movie makers to do the right thing or meet her in court.
In line with this complaint, Netflix has reportedly blocked access to the movie pending an amicable settlement.
The Slay movie which was released a few days ago stars some of the best acts on the continent including Ramsey Nouah and Williams Uchemba.
Ghanaian duo, Kalybos and Bismark The Joke also featured in the movie which was set in South Africa.
Meanwhile, award-winning Ghanaian musician Skrewfaze known in real life as Jehoshaphat Kwabena Eshun has marked his birthday and that of Castro’s with a birthday song and huge cake.
The Gbalagazaa hitmaker who was celebrating his birthday on May 2 which happens to be the same date Castro was born, was seen marking the day with a cake.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with DJ Master P, Skrewfaze who appeared elated about his new age was enjoying the popular ‘birthday song’ which was being sung for him.
