A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Odododiodoo in the Greater Accra Region is demanding justice for two persons killed in the area as a result of electoral violence.

The Odododiodoo constituency recorded two deaths while six others got injured from a shooting incident in the area post-December 7, 2020.

In an interview with Citi News, Convener of the group, Vincent Nii Okai Adams urged the police to provide details regarding the current level of investigations launched into the incident.

“We are in May [2021] now and our concern now is that a bad precedent is being set. The Mayor of Accra has not done anything about this. People talk about Ododiodiodoo and all they can talk about is violence. We want justice. Whoever the perpetrators are they should be brought to book,” he said.

Two persons died while one other person was injured after an alleged shooting incident at the Modak Hotel, Korley Wokon in the Odododiodoo constituency during the 2020 general elections.

There were also gunshots at the City Engineers cluster of polling stations also in the Odododiodoo constituency.

Six NDC MPs table motion calling for probe into election violence

At least seven persons lost their lives due to violence recorded during the 2020 polls.

On the back of this, six members of the Minority in Parliament in March 2021 tabled a private members’ motion in the House seeking a full-scale probe into acts of violence that occurred in the 2020 general elections.

The MPs; Haruna Iddrisu, Muntaka Mubarak, Mahama Ayariga, Alhassan Suhuyini and James Agalga want the scope of the probe to factor in inappropriate interferences by state security in the elections and violence against citizens, leading to the loss of lives.

The motion listed the deceased as Tajudeen Alhassan, Abdullah Ayaric, Emmanuel Dompreh, Samira Zakaria, Ibrahim Abass, Rita Otoo and Fuseini Musah.
