Asante Kotoko Maul Dreams FC To Go Top Of The League Table

Asante Kotoko have mauled Dreams FC 3 – 1 to move to the zenith of the Ghana Premier League table. 

Michael Vinicius, Ismael Abdul Ganiu and Francis Andy Kumi propelled Asante Kotoko to victory, whiles Agyenim Boateng got the consolation for Dreams FC. 

The week 23 victory in Obuasi catapults Asante Kotoko to the table’s peak with 41 points.

Asante Kotoko commenced business as a determined side, with Emmanuel Gyamfi making runs down the wings but Agyenim Boateng brought him under control. 

Dreams FC started to announce their presence with quick passes resulting in a free kick, but the delivery was blown wide by Emmanuel Ocran.

Fabio Gama made a swift interception, decided to go solo but his shot found the waiting arms of goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi. 

Asante Kotoko came in stronger with quick balls for glory as Augustine Okrah tried to pounce on a ball but was brought down, the final kick was frittered away by Emmanuel Gyamfi. 

The game turned into opportunity of equal halves as both sides failed to utilize those moments. 

Three minutes After half hour mark, Fabio Gama was adjudged to have blocked the ball in Kotoko’s box with his hand, resulting in a penalty, which was expertly converted by Emmanuel Ocran for Dreams FC. 

Asante Kotoko kept pushing for the equalizer through the lines, as Emmanuel Gyamfi took on defenders with his blistering run, set up Michael Vinicius with a neat cross, who made a touch with his head to push the scores to 1 – 1.

The two teams stayed calm on the ball to end the first half 1 – 1. 

The early minutes of the second half saw both sides making strides with the ball. 

Home side Asante Kotoko bounced back with quick balls, making it difficult to Dreams FC to deal with, through which Andy Kumi was impeded in the way. A penalty was awarded to Asante Kotoko, with Ismael Abdul Ganiu finding the back of the net to make the scores 2 – 1. 

Following the 2 – 1 lead, Asante Kotoko dominated proceedings as Mudasiru dictated the pace, supplying balls to Emmanuel Gyamfi who was policed by Philemon Baffour. 

As the game wears off Imoro Ibrahim won the ball around the centre circle, loops to Mudasiru who connects Andy Kumi with a fine pass into the box. The striker takes a good first touch before shooting it to increase the tally to 3 for Asante Kotoko. 

Dreams FC tried to rally from behind as Massaudu Abdullah’s header goes wide. 

Asante Kotoko held on to the lead to end the game 3 – 1.
