At every stage of our lives we go through changes either positive or negative. This is a story of the popular girl who acted in the Sarafina movie, she has been experiencing strange changes on her skin for a while now.

This exciting movie was made in 1992 and the protagonist of the film was Leleti Khumalo. She used to be a beautiful young lady with her shining dark skin, but her skin suddenly changed years after the movie and it turned white.

There’s no doubt that the lady you are seeing in the pictures on this article is Sarafina as shown in the film. But now she has changed alot and it’s even seems hard to recognise her face.

Before you end up judging her or begin thinking that she bleached her skin, read through the rest of the post to learn what happened.

The real name of Sarafina is Leleti Khumalo, and she was not born this way and she never bleached her skin. She was a girl with brown skin and not white-skinned at all when she was born. She was infected with vitiligo which many people don’t really know what it is.

Meaning of vitilo:

Vitiligo is considered as auto-immune, it’s highly infectious and dangerous to the skin, and unfortunately there is no cure for Vitiligo. It changes colour of the area affected, it turns white and may affects the skin, even eyes, mouth, hands, and sometimes throughout the whole body is affected forever.

Unfortunately, this is what Sarafina is going through at the moment and she’s now white skinned instead of her black skin, because this condition affects her body beyond control.

How she looks after her skin had changed to white:

Vitiligo occurs when the pigment producing cells dies and stop pigment production. When this occurs, the skin slowly becomes white and can never be cured again.

Leleti said the first thing that happened to her when her leg began to change to white and she started seeing white spots on her leg while she was 18 years old. It wasn’t painful at all because she didn’t really worry about the disease at that time.

She later got married afterwards, and she born triplets, but one baby had died among them and now she has only two children left.
