Host of Onua Maakye on Onua TV, Blessed Godsbrain Smart popularly known as Captain Smart, has revealed on his show that the government is under intense pressure legalize LGBTQ+ in Ghana.

Discussions on LGBTQ+ in Ghana has gathered more momentum after a group of Professors came out to public reject the anti-LGBTQ+ on grounds of human rights abuse.

Contributing to this momentum is the interview by CNN on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill with the member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George.

Captain Smart indicated that he has documents to prove the claims he is making that the government of Ghana is under intense pressure to legalize LGBTQ+ in the country.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has earlier indicated that LGBTQ+ will not be legalized under his watch as the President of Ghana.

” A lot of people do not know what is happening but I can tell you on authority that this government is under serious pressure to legalize LGBTQ+. I have all the documents to prove it but I will not reveal it now. At the right time, I will make it available to the public on this show” he reiterated.

Whilst majority of Ghanaians support the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, there are also concerns that there could could dire economic and trade consequences if Ghana proceed to pass the bill into law.

Some have deflated those fears by arguing that countries like Nigeria and Rwanda, who have passed harsher laws against LGBTQ+ have not faced any consequences and so Ghana should proceed to ban the act.

It is expected that Parliament would take the next line of action on the bill when the house resumes sitting in few days.

What is your position on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill?
