Broadcast Journalist Afia Pokuaa

Celebrated Radio and Television personality Afia Pokuaa known popularly as Vim Lady believes that the much-touted year of roads happened only at the community of the Roads and Highways Minister and East Legon.

According to her, the Roads and Highways Minister has touted the mantra severally, backing it with big Grammar but the real work cannot be seen on the grounds as expected.

“Amoako Atta has touted the year of roads on several platforms and has backed it with English Language. When he hears this he will be angry with me but I will say that the year of roads is only happening in the Minister’s area and East Legon that’s it.

I leave in Community eleven which is close to the Minister’s area but in my community, we never benefited from the year of roads. Amoako Attah the Minister for Highways house is the only place that benefitted from the year of roads,” she said on Accra-based OKAY FM.

Afia Pokuaa complained bitterly about the annual floods in some parts of the country especially in the Greater Accra Region and some parts of the Volta Region.

To her, it has become a worry that each year, the country has to battle with floods that displace people from their homes.

The President of Ghana during his inaugural speech after he was sworn in for his second term indicated that his government was committed to ensuring that road infrastructure deficit in the country is bridged.

“Our roads are being constructed at a much faster pace than before. And yes, I acknowledge that there are still many more kilometers to construct.

“We defined last year as the year of roads, this year [2021] will be the second year of roads. As we continue in our focus of dealing with the deficit in road infrastructure,” he stated
