The Black Stars suffered a painful 1-0 loss to an under-strength Morocco side on Monday evening in Yaounde

Ghana captain Andre Ayew has assured Ghanaian fans that the Black Stars will defeat Gabon in the 2021 AFCON Group C clash with Gabon on Friday.

The Black Stars slipped to a narrow loss to Morocco after Angers star-man Sofiane Boufal twisted and turned his way through the Ghana backline beating Alexander Djiku and Daniel Amartey in the process before unleashing a fierce drive that beat Joseph Luke Wollacott in Ghana post.

The defeat has left many local fans disappointed but the Al-Sadd forward has assured fans that Ghana will beat Gabon in the next group game to restore hopes in the trophy campaign.

“We know it’s not the best way in which to prepare ourselves, but there are no excuses,” he added. “We’ll go home, we’ll relax, and we will make sure we beat Gabon on Friday,” he said in an interview with Goal.com.

Gabon defeated Comoros 1-0 in the group opener to move on points level with Morocco.
