The first leg of the much anticipated 2022 Fifa World Cup qualification play-off between Ghana and Nigeria will take place on Friday at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the city of Kumasi. Friday’s meeting will see two of the African giants renew their rivalry on the pitch of play.

But, despite the fact that Nigeria has been tipped to emerge as winners of the encounter given their impressive performance at the just concluded AFCON tournament in Cameroon, there are various factors that may likely work against the Super Eagles when both teams clash in Kumasi.

This article will take a look at two major reasons why the Super Eagles of Nigeria may likely lose to Ghana on Friday.

1. Home advantage:

the Black Stars of Ghana will be playing in front of their home fans on Friday and as such, they will do all their best to emerge victorious against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

While players of both teams sweat it out on the field, their supporters in the stadium will shout and sing, giving the black stars playing at home an advantage over the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The manner in which the Black Stars of Ghana were eliminated from the just concluded AFCON tournament in Cameroon was not acceptable at all. As such, they will do everything possible to regain the support of their fans and show to the world that they are a top team.

2. Ndidi’s possible absence.

According to recent reports released, the Super Eagles of Nigeria may be without Wilfred Ndidi in the crucial clash with the Black Stars of Ghana on Friday.

Ndidi who sustained a medial ligament injury on Thursday night, is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks if it turns out that the injury is quite serious. But, if it is not as serious as it was thought to be, Ndidi may be back to action as soon as possible.

Wilfred Ndidi happens to be the most in-form Nigerian defensive midfielder at the moment and an integral member of the squad. As such, his injury is a huge blow to his team.
