Mr. Gabby Otchere Darko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said the government’s intention of going to the IMF for a bailout is very important as it may restore the economy of Ghana.

He said that if the former president John Dramani Mahama and the biggest opposition party, NDC think that the NPP government going to the IMF is what will bring victory to the NDC then they should think otherwise.

“If John Dramani Mahama & the NDC are happy because NPP going to the IMF now is what will deliver NDC victory in Dec 2024 then they better think again”. He stated.

He asserts that going to the IMF will relieve Akuffo Addo and the NPP government from pressure them to stabilize the economy.

“It rather takes the pressure off the Akufo-Addo government to focus on things that will impact positively on the economy over the next 15 months.”

Meanwhile, the earlier statement of Gabby Otchere Darko shows that the actions of the Minority in Parliament pushed the government to go to IMF.
