Samuel Eto’o has become the latest to add his voice on the ongoing topic, of Asamoah Gyan’s decision to return to the Black Stars.

He expressed his delight in the former Black Stars captain’s desire to make a grand come back to the Black Stars after years of being away from the camp.

The President of the Cameroonian Football Federation Samuel Eto’o, also the Qatar 2022 Legacy arrived in Ghana last Thursday for a two-day visit.

Within the two days, he will be meeting with the GFA, engaging with the media and the passionate, active Ghanaian fans who have been steadfast in their support of Qatar, and celebrating the uniqueness of the First Arab World Cup

He had his first interview on Peace Fm yesterday with Nana Yaw Kesseh as the host.

When asked about his thoughts about Gyan’s decision, the former Cameroon and Barcelona striker said; “Well, this is a great challenge. He’s played and he’s given great joy to Africans when they were watching him. What I will say is that the final decision will be that of the coach. He will decide whether he will take him on board or not. “

On Tv3’a Warm Up+ show on Saturday, August 10, 2022, he was asked whether he would advise Gyan to return or not and he responded by stating that he is happy that the striker has an interest in returning, however, his inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the World Cup solely lies on the Coach.

“I am happy that Asamoah Gyan has the desire to return [to the Black Stars]. Asamoah Gyan’s place in the World Cup is the decision of the coach,” Eto’o said.

The former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan declared his intention of joining the Ghana’s senior team for the 2022 tournament in Qatar during an interview a few days ago.

His return is a result of his quest to execute revenge against Uruguay which Ghana has been paired with in the same group.

The Ghana’s top goals scorer has been out of the camp for three years, primarily attributing it to injuries.

The 36-year-old last appeared for the Black Stars at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2019. Since then, three managers have been in charge of the Black Stars, none of whom have called on the veteran.

With only 3 months away for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to commence in Qatar, the striker has disclosed his intention to find a new club for intensive training to recoup his shape for a call-up by the Black Stars’ coach Otto Addo.

Ghana after winning against Nigeria was able to secure a ticket for the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup which is scheduled for November and December 2022 in Qatar.
