Ghana defeated Nicaragua 1-0 in their penultimate pre World Cup friendly game ahead of the Mundial later this year.

Fatawu Issahaku’s 35′ strike for the Black Stars, was enough to separate the two sides in this contest played at the Artes Carrasco de Lorca, Spain this evening.

Coach Otto Addo will be happy with this result after the team lost their previous friendly 3-0 to Brazil in a similar exercise last Friday in France.

The performance of the team was an improved effort as compared to what Ghana produced in the defeat to Brazil and, the technical team will look to build on this as the World Cup approaches.

Ghana, could have scored more than the one goal they managed in this encounter against the Central Americans, but, they could not convert a boat of chances that fell their way tonight.

Coach Addo, now has a fair idea on the players he hopes to present at the Mundial after these two friendlies, as opportunities were offered to the boys to show up.

Ghana’s last friendly before the World Cup, will be in November when the Black Stars lineup against Switzerland, seven days before their opening World Cup game against Portugal.

Ghana will also play South Korea and Uruguay in other Group H games at the Mundial in Qatar in November and December this year.
