Ghanaian actress Habiba Sinare apologized for what she said in a viral video clip that she claimed was cut from an earlier interview about Northerners.

Her opinions were criticized as being tribalistic and partially derogatory.

In the viral video, Habiba claimed that Northern men were difficult to cope with and related it to how her in-laws tried to dominate her life as a young mother and wife when she married at the age of 19. She then vowed to never marry them again.

But the former wife of Abdul Majeed Waris, a former Black Stars player explained that those opinions were expressed in an interview that had been shot years earlier and that the contents had trended and died down in a post on her Facebook wall that was posted late on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Reacting to this in the comments session, a Facebook influencer, Nana Kwame Elvis has opined that Habiba Sinare should have stood her ground and become the voice of Northern women in abusive marriages.

In his own words he wrote;

“This woman should have stood firm to start being the voice for the women in the north. Most of the northern women wish to speak about how they are treated in marriage. Not all the northern men are like that tho but seem the majority.
I know most northern men will not agree to this but they know women in the northern part of the country has no voice in the marriage.
Why do you think some of them run away to the South and don’t want to return home?

My dear northern brothers, I know you find it difficult to accept what she said but, consider her and start paying attention to your women when it comes to how you treat them after marriage.

I have had the chance to talk to a few and what they said is not different from what this woman also said. I know with Allah y’all want the truth and the truth is what this woman has so pay attention.”
