Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has quashed claims by a section of the media that the nation is cursed following Andre Ayew’s penalty miss.

The Al Sadd forward has the chance to put the Black Stars in front on the 21st minute shot his kick into the arms of Uruguay goalkeeper.

Asamoah Gyan has the experience having missed his crucial kick in the 2010 FIFA World Cup edition held in South Africa where the Black Stars finished at the quarter final stage.

Asamoah Gyan who is a pundit for SuperSport for the 2022 FIFA World Cup believes such incidents happen in football.

“I don’t think it’s a curse. These are things that happen in football and as a footballer, you have to deal with it for the rest of your life.”

“I have been there before and I know what Andre (Ayew) is going through right now. He might pretend to be strong but deep inside, he will feel the pain.”
