The CEO of Jamrok Bar and Event Center, Patrick Kwabena Addo, has filed a lawsuit against Mr. Drew.

The plaintiff, Jamrok Bar & Event Centre, and Mr. Patrick Kwabena Addo are requesting in a writ of summons issued at Senchi by the Districk Magistrate Court on Monday, April 15, 2024, “the recovery of GHS15,000 it paid to 1st defendant,” Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, a.k.a. Mr. Drew, “to perform” at an Easter event organized by the plaintiff, “but failed to do so and the refund of the money annulled since 12 February 2024.”

Along with “general damages of GHS200,000.00 against the defendants, for the severe damage caused to the plaintiff’s brand as a result of the cancellation of the event,” the plaintiff also requests “an order for the recovery of special damages amounting to GHS36,511.00 being direct costs incurred by the plaintiff in connection with the event.”

The Afropop singer recorded a video to confirm his arrival and performance as the main act, but he rejected to perform at the event, according to the event organizers, despite having already received 50% of his agreed performance fee.

In a press release dated April 2, 2024, the event’s organizers stated, “Everything was set for the event to take place but the artiste, Mr. Drew, pulled out of the event when he was to mount the stage without any reason or explanation to the organizers.” “On the day of the event, Mr. Drew and three other team members arrived at his hotel about 3 p.m. His plan was to unwind and prepare for the evening’s festivities. The other performers on the schedule had all reached their lodgings and were ready to go.

The organizers attempted to contact the artist to arrange a performance at around 12:30 am, but they received no answer from his team. Consequently, they drove to the hotel where they discovered the artist was sound asleep. Mr. Drew and his group eventually left the hotel, got into their car, and drove away after a while.”
