Government to fund Movie Productions in Ghana

The government of the Republic of Ghana through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts is set to release funds for film production, a move sources say will help boost the industry that is facing collapse.

Organizers of Ghana Movie Week in an interview with Kumasi based Light Fm entertainment show dropped the hint

Michael Ola, who is an organizing member of Ghana Film Week commented government for the initiative.

“The ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts wants to give some kind of funding to filmmakers to help them in their work”. Ola hinted while discussing this year’s plans and series of events commemorating the celebration of the event across the country

According to Organizers of the festival, the minister of Tourism Mrs. Catherine Ablema will brief attendees on plans the ministry is putting in place in support of the film industry.

Meanwhile, the Employment minister Ignatius Bafuor is also expected to take them through how workers of the industry can benefit from pension plans, insurance and better salary structure.

Senior Minister Mr. Asafo Marfo will as well be there to educate movie makers on the essence of having “the Ghanaian agenda” in mind to project the country when shooting films.

The celebration is set to commence on the 23rd to 29th this month throughout the country.
