Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites lost 2-0 to Senegal in their second group game at the ongoing CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger.

Both teams went into the game in Maradi knowing victory would guarantee them a place in the FIFA U-20 world cup in Poland later this year.

And it was Senegal who looked the more dominant side right from kick off and were duly rewarded after 12 minutes when Youssouph Mamadou Badji headed in from close range after being left unmarked in the area.

Badji then made it 2-0, slotting in on the stroke of half time to put the Senegalese in control.

In the second half, Ghana coach Jimmy Cobblah brought on Ibrahim Sadiq to replace the struggling Emmanuel Toku but Senegal held on to secure victory and book a place in the semi finals as well as a ticket to the FIFA U-20 world cup in Poland.

Ghana will now need to avoid defeat against Mali in their last group game on Saturday to qualify to the semis and secure a place at the FIFA U-20 world cup.

Mali won their second group game against Burkina Faso 1-0 after losing their first game to Senegal.
