The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the findings of the three-member ministerial committee tasked to investigate disturbances at Ejura in the Ashanti Region will be made public by the end of next week.

“The President has instructed that we publish the report so perhaps before the end of this week or next week will be publishing the report in full and at the same time also announcing the implementation measures that come along with that publication,” the Minister said on Point Blank on Eyewitness News.

The committee after completing its work presented its findings to the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery over a month ago.

Mr. Nkrumah indicated that the findings were subsequently handed over to the Attorney General for advice.

“The President asked the Attorney General to look at it and give advice on a number of things which will become clearer when implementation starts. The Attorney General has completed the study of the committee’s report.”

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, earlier in July 2021, directed the Interior Ministry to conduct a public inquiry following the killing of two people and the injuring of four others by soldiers during a protest against the killing of a social activist, Ibrahim Muhammed, popularly known as Kaaka Macho.

Kaaka died on Monday, June 28, 2021, after he was attacked by unknown assailants while returning home from an event he attended in the area.

Earlier reports suggested that Kaaka was killed because of his social activism, which some persons felt was making the government unpopular, but police reports suggest otherwise after three people including his brother were arrested and put before the court over the killing.

The Interior Ministry subsequently constituted a three-member committee chaired by Justice George Kingsley Koomson to probe the issue and make recommendations.

Although the report is not fully out, portions of it cited by Citi News recommended the dismissal of the Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu, Mohammed Salisu Bamba as well as the soldier who led the command for the ground operation on the day of the incident.

There is also a recommendation for the payment of compensation for affected families and victims.
