Six things that happened, as Nigeria Failed To Beat Ghana in the World Cup Qualifiers

Nigeria played against Ghana in the first leg of their last round of the world cup qualifiers.

The match ended in a 0-0 scoreline, as both teams failed to score, and below are six things that happened during the match.

1. Nigeria name a strong line-up for this game.

The Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Augustine Eguaveoen named a very strong line-up for this important match. The likes of Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Joe Aribo, Samuel Chukwueze, and William Troost Ekong were all named in the starting line-up.

2. Thomas Partey starts for Ghana.

Arsenal midfielder and also the captain of the Ghanaian national team, Thomas Partey was named in the starting line-up alongside other quality players in Ghana.

3. Uzoho makes a great save. 

In the 33rd minute, Ghana’s Abdul Fatawu had a great chance from outside the box to put Ghana ahead, but the Nigerian goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho made what was a very great save to deny him. 

4. Moses Simon miss a big chance. 

Nigeria’s Moses Simon was presented with a great chance in the 55th to score, but the Ghana goalkeeper was in the right position to make a great save to deny him.

5. Lookman comes on to replace Moses Simon.

In the 74th minute, Ademola Lookman was handed his super eagles debut, as he introduced into the game to replace Moses Simon.

6. Nigeria are awarded a penalty, but VAR cancels it.

Nigeria were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute, but after the VAR review, the penalty was cancelled.
